Thursday 25th June again demonstrated such links with Mansfield's Girls Manager Peter Haskell being invited to Samworth Academy's annual sports awards to support the numerous players from Samworth Academy who are also Mansfield U13 girls players in this prestigious event that recognises the players efforts in representing their school at rugby in district and region finals throughout this school year.
Awards from Samworth Academy for 'Players Player' - Emily Bingley, 'Most Improved Player' - Georgina Tasker and Player of the Year - 'Bethany Cope' …all Mansfield Girls players were during the evening.
In the finale of the event attend by over three hundred parents and guests, Mansfield RUFC's Girls Player 'Lucy Harrop' was presented with Sports Woman of the Year.
A major factor in the sustainability of Mansfield Rugby Clubs 'Girls Section' over the past few seasons has been the links forged with local primary and secondary schools in the region.
Hannah Carey, Head of PE from Samworth Academy commented……'It was great to have Peter Haskell as a guest for the event representing Mansfield Rugby Club as the strong club link that he has helped to establish is very much the reason for the girls continued success and we look forward to continuing this link'.
